php + mysql install all?

hello.

i have heard of some sort of program that installs php and mysql and some other goodies with just one file. because ive wasted too many hours trying to figure out what i did wrong with my mysql installation, im throwing in the towel, and searching for some help. can someone help me obtain this magical installation file?

The only one I have used is WAMP, and I found the distros to be very out of date. But here is a list of some others which I'm not familiar with:
