Finally got my IPCop box installed. As some of you noticed last night when the site disappeared for hours on end.

But this box is cool shit... having fun with it. Feel a lot better having this between my servers and the 'Net. IPTABLES did me good for the last 18mo. but it's time to move on

3 cheers for IP cop... I should have the blob up and running my only excuse was that I was waiting for a rounded ata66 ide cable that and the dvdrom drive I had in the blob died for some apparent reason guess it didnt take to kindly too all that metal carving...

Yeah IPCop is badass. You can use network cards to divide your network into RED, GREEN, and ORANGE zones. RED is the Internet, GREEN is your (safe) LAN, and ORANGE is a DMZ (servers). It has a web-based interface like most routers that let you configure all kinds fo shit, view logs, traffic graphs, etc.

are you pretty experienced with linux? I'm going to be setting up a 'learning' box and may need some assistance.. for once.. which linux is best? Id prefer the most indepth version because if i learn that the rest will be cake.
